The Kent County LPD is the home of the Libertarian Party in Kent County, Delaware.

With parts of Smyrna, Delaware in the north and parts of Milford, Delaware in the south, Kent County includes parts of eight Representative Districts and five Senate Districts in the State General Assembly, six county council "Levy Court" districts along with one at-large county representative, four county-wide row offices, four public school districts, and twenty municipalities.

Our mission is to advance the policies and principles of the Libertarian Party at all levels of our local government and into our communities by running candidates for public office; conducting outreach, education, and lobbying; providing a community for local Libertarians; and raising money to promote those efforts as well as similar efforts at the State and National level.

We currently hold monthly business meetings on the third Monday of each month at the McGlynn's Pub in Dover, beginning at 7p. We also organize or cosponsor other social and political events that will be announced here and on our mailing list.

Please sign up for our mailing list to be notified of upcoming events and pressing local issues, and consider making a one-time or recurring donation below.

Other information and important links can also be found to the right, with the latest news and updates posted below. Also join our State Party's Discord Server to start meeting other local Libertarians now!

At the August 2021 meeting of the KCLPD, the body voted to create a "Platform Committee" that will meet on the LPD Discord Server to develop a series of platform plank resolutions applying Libertarian principles and the National LP Platform to local issues of particular relevance to Delaware and Kent County.  The platform planks will include links to more detailed resolutions further exploring the reasoning behind the planks as well as cross references to other relevant platform topics.

As these resolutions are developed and approved by the Kent County Libertarian Party, they will be cataloged here.  Drafts of incomplete planks can be found on the Discord Server as they are perfected in the Kent → #platform-committee channel.  These are the topics that have been suggested thus far.  Please join us if you'd like to contribute on these subjects or if there are others we have yet to examine.  Suggestions can also be sent to kent@lpdelaware.org.

  1. Public Health (Adopted September 2021)
The Kent County Libertarian Party of Delaware rejects any and all policies, mandates, coercive gestures, and dictates levied by governments in the service of public health.

  2. Medical Freedom (Adopted September 2021)
The choices individuals make about their medical care are some of the most intimate and personal decisions any individual can make. They must have the freedom to make those choices in consultation with their doctors to ensure those choices meet their particular individualized needs. They must not be forced, directly through government mandates on individuals or indirectly through government mandates on the businesses that serve them, to make choices approved by politicians.

  3. Gun Rights (Adopted November 2021)
The Second Amendment to the US Constitution states that the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. Beyond that, if the Libertarian Principle of self-ownership means anything, it must include the right to self defense against aggression. The Kent County Libertarian Party of Delaware stands against restrictions on firearms ownership which hinder those rights.

  4. Cannabis Legalization (Adopted November 2021)
The Kent County Libertarian Party of Delaware holds that cannabis legalization is a pressing matter in Delaware that must be enacted as soon as possible. Under Libertarian Principles of self-ownership a person has the right to use or not use whatever substances they choose for recreational or medicinal reasons. A person has the right to grow whatever crops they choose on their own property. A person has the right to enter into mutually consensual transactions in whatever form they choose.
